Saw this article on the NHRA website: http://www.nhra.com/2002/sportsman/news/april/040202.html

In a nutshell, NHRA intends to more strictly enforce the use of seat belts. Specifically in the super classes.

All I can say is it's about time!

I can't tell you how many people I have seen with loose belts. Some of them are people I consider friends.

This just isn't a problem at NHRA events. It's everywhere. I'm not going to "name names" but there are a number of bracket racers at New England Dragway(NED) guilty of improperly fastened belts. Maybe the IHRA & NED in particular will follow NHRA's lead on this issue?

Be Safe!

If a car's built right, the driver shouldn't have to hang out of the cage to look over, like we see a lot of Super Class racers doing.

It's always made me unfomfortable seeing people hanging out of the cages. If they can come out on their own, what would happen if they were thrown out with force?

Later!

I'll tell ya I have my belts very tight because you know after the 1st hit the belts will stretch a little bit.
and I only have a low 11's car.

I wear my seatbelts so tight in my dragster that I can't breathe!!! and I obviously don't hang out of my car at top end because I can't judge it. lol!!!

I hope that they do enforce the rule though. with cars getting faster and faster we need more safety precautions!
