This looks good. Here is an email I received from Joe Lombardo today. :)

Ted ... I spoke with Mike Baker yesterday. He asked me to fax him the
information you provided. I included a cover letter formally requesting the
change. Mike said he had the authority to make the change, but would run
everything past Bader first. It didn't look like it was going to be a
problem getting this through so I plan to make an announcement amending the
rule via our website. In the event things don't change with IHRA I will
still allow line locks. However, anyone who goes to Norwalk will have to
plan accordingly.

Thanks to you and Kevin Brodeur for your efforts.

Great job Ted I hope this takes a little of the negativity away from the track. they actually responded to an issue raised by the racers.

Good job! You went about it the proper way - bitchin and moanin isn't the way to change things that don't make sense!

New England Dragway really stepped up to help make this happen. Steve George and Steve Toohey helped a lot, Kevin Brodeur provided insight, some helpful emails to IHRA, and scripted a "fall back" position with the New England Dragway staff in case IHRA did not accept the rule change request.

Joe Lombardo personally took care of a lot of the details and supported the effort every step of the way. This was truly a group effort. Everybody involved deserves a round of applause.

"Line Locks In For 2002 Posted Tuesday, April 2, 2002 8:03 AM by nednews
With a change in the IHRA Division 3 Line Lock rule for Street Eliminator imminent racers in the class at New England Dragway will be allowed to use the device in 2002 competition. The announcement was made by New England Dragway Track Manager Joe Lombardo on April 1.

"I spoke with Mike Baker (IHRA Director of Competition and Tech) about removing the ban and he didn't see why a change couldn't be made. So rather than have racers remove their line locks only to reinstall them later I decided to lift the ban before our first points day," explained Lombardo.

The move comes after an overwhelming majority of Street ET racers voiced safety concerns about the prohibition. That started a campaign to solicit support from other Division 3 Track Operators who supported the change."
