The Grass is always greener at the other Track……
I just wanted to share a few comments that I read as a result of the drivers meeting for LVD.
$5.00 increase in racers fee
$15.00 increase in sign up fee (from $60 to $75)
Track is up for sale
I bring this up because it seems a portion of the local racers at NED are quick to gripe and bash the management.
Just from the above mentioned items, I think NED is doing a GREAT job at providing us with a SAFE place to race while maintaining a good neighbor status in the community.
In NO WAY is this meant to be a shot at LVD but the intent is to appreciate our own NED

Yo,
Lebanon Valley is a great little track with a loyal and talented following of racers. I spend a fair amount of time working (announcing) there when I am out here in Amherst at school because it is only an hour and 20 minutes away. Last summer I would sometimes do a friday night at NED and do a Sat at LVD and make it back sunday for NED again, (when you're hooked you're hooked). Their track manager Glenn Grow is one of the nicest guys you will ever run into anywhere and it was actually him that allowed me my "big break" to first start drag strip announcing.
I hope that LVD is sold to someone with an interest in running a drag strip because it could be easily swallowed by the circle operation. The way it works there is that the drag strip is leased from the circle track operation, there are still several years left on the lease, so it won't be gone tomorrow, but it could be gone someday.
Let's also not get into the rumor mill mode that starts every freakin' year about LVD. I was hearing stories about a train going through there and the place already being sold and all kinds of other garbage last year.
later,
Brian

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. New England Dragway is a good place to go racing .
Have the price increases at LVD brought the fees up to the norm or does it cost more when compared to other tracks? It would only be fair to put it in the proper context.
I think that it has been no secret that since Vince's death the Barletta family has been looking to sell the lease (20-25 years begining in 92-93?) of LVD. Maybe they are getting a little more aggresive now?
Rumors have been persistant that NED racer Steve DeRosa is very interested in acquiring the lease. You never if/when it will happen with Steve involved.
Brian, you may have had good experiences working with Glenn. Our first experience with him was great too. But after that it went downhill. In '98 he treated me very rudely. Except for NHRA Divisionals we have not gone out there since.
But really shouldn't I post this in that lonely, little used LVD forum?

Not that it is a big deal too me, I race where ever and whenever I can, I am in that CMDR club, and we have 4 or 5 races there a year, and they treat us very well there, but my personal opinion, is I would rather race at "MY" home track NED. But I really don;t want to see a perfect racetrack go down under, so I hope everything works out for them. Just my 2 cents.

Remember If you loose another track you'll only have New England Dragway & Oxford Plains. I've been racing @ Lebanon Valley & New England since 1972, both places are a great to race at, ( I actually run Quicker @ New England) however it would be a shame if the Valley were to be sold to a non-racing sanction like (Connecticut Dragway) But like the thread above said
"Rumors are just that RUMORS"
As long as I'm associated with the club, our group WILL ALWAYS have scheduled races at the Valley.
