Hello People. I was just wondering what brand Tier every body prefers for their car weather it is DOT slicks for STREET ET or RACE for slicks MOD and TOP ET.

Joey,

In my opinion, i like mickey thompsons. whether its the big slicks or the 9" radials, they seem to require the least burnout which in turn makes them last a long time. later!!

Hey Justin, I have heard allot of good things about Mickey Ts.
I was thinking of trying out their DOT slicks later on this year when it is time for me to get new Tiers. Right now I use the BFgoodrich DOT Drag Radials and those have performed very well thus far.

I use M/T street slicks (DOT) 26x11.5 they hook hard with a small burnout and the tire presser at 11 to 12 psi.
And there stable on the top end also.

I have them in there I didn't want to have any problems with them.

I've tried both the M/T ET Streets and the Hoosier Quick Time Pro's on my street car (both are DOT slicks). I prefer the Hoosiers.

Well guys, I prefer Goodyear 28x10 run about 11-12 psi. little burnout and I can go about a season on a set. Before I was running Modified I ran M&H Racemasters on my Street car which again small burnout and hooked really good.

I used to run MT ET Streets and I liked them just fine.

I used to run tubes in them, but one went down on me at Super Chevy 1999 (not a good time for a flat). I took it out and never went back to tubes. There is no good reason to run tubes...just put some dish soap on the inside of the sidewalls and run without them...my tires stay up for months. The car will go faster because of the lower rotating weight also...

Scott--

How much did the car pick-up by not running tubes?

I ask because, Mickey Thompson states they want you to run the tubes. This could be for safety reasons? or maybe the tube supports the sidewall in some way

Hi Dave,
I never measured a gain from removeing the tubes...removing 10lbs (assuming each tube weighs 5lbs) of rotating weight is like removing 20lbs of static weight, so I suppose it's good for .02

I did notice that MT recommended tubes and that's why I ran them. After talking to many people (on that other message board) who ran them without tubes, I was convinced that it was okay. You WILL lose some air from slicks without tubes over a stretch, but unless you store your car from November to April and never visit it you will have the opportunity to add air now and then. (I lose more air from my front tires than from my slicks)

If you run screws in your rims you run a bigger risk of cutting a tube. A cut tube will make the tire go down...it doesn't just equalize the air inside the tire like I thought it might...

MT also recommends you use a MT tube...now that's marketing

I have run Hoosier slicks for last 2 years and like them. They are kind of short but "if it ain't broke". Ran M/T's also on my Camaro but I can't say if they were good or not because I spun them a lot! Must have been the car. I got 140 runs out of a set of Hoosiers - just don't need to do burnouts like that "party" guy - what's his name? Oh yeah....Artie.

Hello People. I just wanted to thank everyone for posting thier opinions about different tiers. I sounds like M/Ts are a great brand to use. Depending on my financila situation when it comes time for a tier change maybee I will give them a shot.

Hey Dan nice site from what I saw of it. Sorry about all those popup adds. The best thing to do is just wait for them all to run their corse and then X them all out. It is a nice site if you can get through those adds.

I personally love my street tires, i found it impossible to spin those darn things...besides, slicks cost more than the value of the car...but i still gotta be careful with the ground pounding force coming out of that nasty V8!

After trying the Hoosier radial slicks this season, I love 'em. Once you get used to burnout procedures they wear great too.

yeap, the I noticed the Hoosiers require a small burnout compared to the other competitiors

Joey, I've been using the BF Goodrich Comp T/A drag radials and have absolutely no complaints about them. They've treated me very well and don't need much heat at all for a good bite. They also seem to work best when they are down to the wear bars and the chords just start to stick out.

Hey guys, Well this year I have gone with the Hoosier Quick Time Pro's. Last year I had the BF Goodrich and they worked out well but with them at least with my car I would do a ripping burn out until the tires where screaming to be let go. I also tried the M/T'S and both the Hoosier's and the M/T's needed a minimal burn out to get the same result as the BF's. I think that the Hoosiers are the tier to go with for now, seeing as they are almost the same thing as the M/T's but a little cheaper. I think from my experience with the BF's that they a for a more light weight rear end car and the Hoosiers and M/T's are for a heavier type car, though you probably could use the Hoosiers on a light weight car with little air pressure.
