well think bout this now, who is going to be in charge of reporting the points? You cant even get your results in your own track paper
or reported to ihra magazine what makes you think they are going to report to summit every week bye the followin tuesday. we will see, be very careful

Courtesty of New England Dragway's site...

If you have been waiting for confirmation that New England Dragway will participate in the Summit World Championship, your wait is over! The track sent in the required enrollment information which opens the door for racers who want a crack at the $160,000 purse.

To be eligible, racers must be a member of IHRA and obtain a special number that designates them as a participant. The special numbers are only available from IHRA. They are not available from New England Dragway. Anyone participating should call Chris Dittmar at the New England Dragway office after they obtain their number so he can make the appropriate change on the points form.

In addition to obtaining membership credentials racers must be a member of the New England Dragway VP Racing Fuels ET Series points program, display the appropriate IHRA, Summit, Pontiac and supporting sponsors decals on their vehicles as prescribed by the current IHRA Rulebook. Drivers must also wear IHRA and Summit patches on their fire jackets and/or uniforms. More details about the program are available by contacting IHRA.

Compulink Joins Qualified Summit World Championship Timing Systems
January 10, 2002
The most widely used timing system in the nation, Compulink, has completed test data to work with IHRA's Summit World Championship scoring computer, an integral part of the Summit SuperSeries, presented by Pontiac and Buell. Compulink's name joins TSI, ETS, and Chrondeck as compatible systems.

Summit World Championship Gets Real Race Test
March 12, 2002

Norwalk, Ohio - Even though the Summit World Championship chase does not officially commence until April, IHRA has received data from member tracks from actual race events, and has compiled them in the official scoring computer. The drivers that have signed up to be part of the program were filtered out by the program, and their performance ratings were calculated and sorted based on their total number of wins, losses, and possible number of rounds.

What my last three posts are trying to say is this:

New England Dragway has committed themselves to running the Summit Super Series. They didn't have to, but they did so that all of you points racers, if you choose to do so, can have a crack at the $160,000 top prize.

The timing systems at all the tracks (New England uses a Compulink system) have received the necessary updates in order to output the race results in the form of data that IHRA's official scoring computer uses to compile the results.

The track has taken the necessary steps to benefit you, the racer. What if a New England racer has a Jeff Nunes-like season and actually walks away with all the spoils at the end? Do you realize all the extra work they've just created for themselves by doing this? But they committed to the program for the racers so now they're going to follow through on it.

Don't knock New England Dragway for doing something to *gasp* benefit the racer. You complain so much when they do anything, and now you complain when they're doing something to help you out. Looks like they're damned if they do, damned if they don't, huh?

Being an old fogey I didn't want to change my car number (or wear patches on my firesuit!) but decided to run the program after all. I think the thought of having a Jeff Nunes-like year 2000 did it. Hey you never know! Little luck, some skill sprinkled in and you could do it. Hope my number isn't 3x55273! C ya soon.

any body figure out if theracers are benefitted by running more or less races/ ill wait and see how the program runs here, no weepin guys when yur points get bounced for bieng late or not reported at all.the tracksrecord on repoting to drag review not good

If you don't want to take a shot at $160K, that's your decision. If you have such a lack of faith in New England Dragway just because in the past they haven't sent line results in for Drag Review, that it keeps you from doing something that might benefit you, than so be it.

But, with IHRA going to great lengths to put this program in place, getting the timing system companies and 48 tracks on board to date, you can rest assured that it'll work out. IHRA and Sunoco are even offering bonuses to the tracks from which the national and regional champions come from.

Some tracks are choosing not to participate. Some tracks don't have a full time office staff, so it's not feasible for them to do it. You should be thankful that the track decided to make more work for itself to hopefully benefit you.

But ultimately, it is your call. If you don't want to "risk" it, no big deal. I remember when Frank Belanger decided he didn't want to put the qualifying sticker for the perfect run bonus on his car a few years back. What happened? He had a perfect run. No sticker, no money. His call, and yours.

Well, I just got ANOTHER card from the IHRA informing me that I am HX51 after getting notified that I was 2X51. Better call them and get the scoop! Good thing nobody is confused! Seriously though, I understand being the first time they are doing this that there will be some speed bumps.

Mike, I remember that day also. I was standing right by the car when he came back to his pit and listened to all the comments about what to do.
I know what to do! And last year I did it, and it paid me well, along with the race win money. Decals are for race cars!

I would have to believe that if the track management went to all the trouble to sign up for the series that they would not already have a plan in place to ensure the timely transmition of required information.
Just my opinion though. Good luck to all who have signed up for the series.

My only advise is not to plan on an "if"...

Tell me more about the possibility of a track in RI. I have family in Warwick so that sounds appealing to me. I just hear little bits of information. Is there a way to find out what is going on all in one place?

Unfourtunately there is alot of rumor going around but from what I know the local town granted the license & the group now needs to get a lease from the RI Airport Corp. hopefully they will know this week.
It would be every other W/E so I'll still get up to NED.The current plan is for a '1000 racing surface on a '3000 runway. It would be great to see some of the regulars from NED come down.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. 20 miles away vs 140.
