New england dragway has dropped VP racing fuels....sunoco has become the new fuel supplier.......
explained track General Manager Larry Bean. He added, “The decision came down to which company provided greater benefits to the New England Dragway community.................
community......what should have been said was: what benefitted new england dragway period....
you think the manegement cares what fuel we are using...hell no
I think this SUCKS............................................. .

if anyone is interested i can get vp fuel from steven unless
you wanna mix up the two sunoco fuels 112 and 116 and get some 114 remember to stir it and not shake it lol

I am in agreement with Supercomp, this decision doesn’t favor the NED racer it can only benefit the track.
To read the release, click here: http://www.newenglanddragway.com/news/index.shtml
The so called community Larry Bean talks about isn’t our racing community. Mr. Bean’s community consists of NED’s bank account.
In the release Mr. Jacques tells us: “Sunoco is simply the best choice out there for anyone interested in top quality race fuel.” I guess that Mr Jacques, through many years of first hand experience using race fuel and an intensive education in chemistry, is qualified to make this assessment. Or maybe his viewpoint comes from the % he gets for signing the deal with Sunoco. Doesn’t that seem more likely? It’s all about the $$$$$.
NED just lost my 200+ gallons per year!
VP user for life!

I am not very familiar with fuel selection in general as I run the unleaded high octane variety as to not screw up my 02 sensors...
That said, I understand that VP has more different blends than the Sunoco product but the Sunoco fuels use a different mixture process than does VP that is supposedly more consistent.
I could use some education on the basis for opinions on this matter. Anyone care to shed their experience/knowledge?

My best guess is that this change was influenced by IHRA being that they are a series sponsor. I was looking through the contingency list and did not see VP listed there.

The closer the motor(M) and research(R) octane ratings are to each other, the more stable the fuel is. What it indicates is that the octane rating is effected very little by heat (and race engines make plenty of heat).
VP - C 12: M=108 R=110
VP - C 14: M=114 R=116
VP - C 15: M=115 R=117
VP - C 16: M=117 R=118
Sunoco - 111: M=105 R=117
Sunoco - 112: M=109 R=115
Sunoco - 117: M=113 R=121
Notice how close all the VP racing fuels are? This makes VP an excellent choice.

I for one will not use anything but VP......:p
One year at the nationals I couldnt find any VP so i tried to buy sunoco that was close to C-114 well i had to mix 112 and 116 to get 114 boy that sure sucked....looks like i will be making some trips to eliot, maine
I dont think it was influenced by ihra, I think it was influenced by the all mighty dollar of which we won't see any........:(
Boy all import saturdays now no VP what next.....

Well here I am again, just couldn't sit on the side on this one.Tnthub,my car is EFI and I have to run VPC14.Last year I used it until I ran out down in Bradenton.I used sunoco blue.I noticed no et or mph change. The problem was when I sent my injectors out to be checked and cleaned ,they found heavy deposits internally. That was after only 15 passes.

There must be somewhere you can get VP . What does Lebanon carry?Oxford sells VP , May be you can buy it At one of the stock car tracks .
12-03-2002, 07:49 PM
Lebanon sells VP but it's about 50 cents a gallon more than NED was selling it for.
12-03-2002, 07:51 PM
does anyone know if sunoco prices are higher than vp?
12-03-2002, 07:57 PM
usually cheaper by alot.
12-03-2002, 08:55 PM
VP is going to be available at a lot of places very soon. Eastern VP Sales is also one of the major sponsors of NortheastDragRacing.com as well.
If you need fuel, don't hesitate to give them a call at (207) 439-3561.

Just one more thing to pack before leaving for Epping on Sundays now. Hope they let the guys who run All Stars know this before they get there, mixing fuels is a very bad thing for class racers.

My vote is VP. I use VP114 also, and was stuck at Englishtown last year using their Sunoco 112, which the guy claimed was equal to VP114. Give me a break!!!!!!!!! The way Steve Cultrera treats and speaks with the New England racers, is reason enough to keep VP at our track. Sorry, their track. From whomever made the decision.
One more racer that will be looking elsewhere for his fuel. Sorry Larry and Cliff, if it was your decision?

just another larry bean "we Dont NEEd them anway Decision"
the almighty dollar rules, well i like to be there when nobodys bangin at the gate to get in. remember what i said last year guys.
it all starting to fall in place.
12-04-2002, 11:42 AM
well i run vp in both cars and never have any problems.
i will be buys barrels of fuel from steve or who ever he sets up as the closest distributor to my shop.
NED realy boned the racers on this deal.... i heard that steve had more racer perks for this season, and NED said "we dont want more for the racer, we want more for NED"
i for on will be loyal to steve and joann. we should all deffinatly boycot the fuel shack.... its hard for the track to make there 3 bucks on every gallon if nobody buys any
12-04-2002, 12:56 PM
hey steve better solution evrybody just go to the valley, that make them notice, but the wouldnt care anyway and ya couldnt get enough guys to do it.
12-04-2002, 04:06 PM
Well I'll just get on my motor shops fuel deal. Was just more convenient to get it at the track.
Dan Page is trying to put together a deal with steve to sell VP cheaper than you could get it at the track last year. The only reason the track did this is for a kickback from sunoco, after all Steve has done for them I think it sucks.Just another reason to travel to ATCO next year. Ken
Sounds like another good reason to switch to Alcohol!:D :D

make mine BUD LIGHT...........
12-04-2002, 11:27 PM
Personally, I think it sucks how Steve got shafted and would love to hear NED's reasoning for it... Even though I already know the answer,($$$). I wonder if any of the higher ups of NED view this page, and these posts, cuz i think they should know how much of an uproar they are causing, and from a business prospective knowing how much money they will lose. I will be calling Steve for my C14. Just shows how much they do care about the racers.
12-04-2002, 11:55 PM
and ex racer David Riely used to on the board, dont think the board cares about the racers.

Greetings to everyone! Just got back from the PRI show and I must say these posts and compliments are very soothing and supportive!
I am even more inspired than ever to support the racers after reading the posts, even if it means hand delivering VP one 5 gallon can at a time to your shops myself. I am a racer first and a businessman second. Maybe that is my problem. Sometimes being a racer doesn't make sense, but I don't know any other way to go about it. Drag racing is my life! I have been fortunate to be involved in Pro Stock for the last 8 years, but before that I ran Comp and before that Modified and before that Super Stock.
In addition to my commitment to servicing you with VP, remember that I will always listen to any advice and greet anyone interested in helping to distribute VP. If you have any comments or programs you might find helpful to the racers call me at 207-439-3561 or E-Mail Me at email@example.com (firstname.lastname@example.org).
